Sony has unveiled the FX2, a hybrid cinema camera aimed at next-gen filmmakers. It combines the 33MP full-frame sensor from the a7 IV with a compact, video-centric body similar to the bigger FX3 and a tilting 3.68M-dot electronic viewfinder (EVF).
The FX2’s video capabilities include shooting 4K 10-bit 4:2:2 All-I recording, dual base ISO (800/4000) in S-Log3, and up to 15 stops of dynamic range. It also includes photo-friendly features such as a mechanical shutter and the ability to capture JPEG or HEIF stills even while recording video.
Designed with videographers in mind, it features a large REC button, full-size HDMI, multiple mounting points, shutter angle control, a cooling fan, and support for the optional XLR top handle. A fully articulating screen, anamorphic de-squeeze (1.33x & 2x), and new dynamic active stabilisation mode to enhance versatility.
Autofocus improvements include Sony’s AI-powered real-time recognition AF for people, animals, insects, and vehicles, plus AI auto framing. However, 4K 60p recording uses an APS-C crop (1.5x), and 4.7K RAW is only possible via external recording.
The FX2 will be available in August in two options:
Body-only: $2699 or ₹2,25,000 (approx.)
With XLR handle: $3099 or ₹2,60,000 (approx.)
With its hybrid-friendly features and improved usability, the FX2 is essentially an a7 IV in an FX3-style body, but with an EVF and better stills support.
Nikon India Pvt. Ltd. has announced the launch of the NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ, a power zoom lens designed for full-frame Nikon Z-mount mirrorless cameras. First revealed in October 2024, this lens is tailored to meet the demands of professional videographers, offering seamless zoom control, minimising focus shifts, and can resolve 8K video.
According to Sajjan Kumar, Managing Director of Nikon India, the lens is built for dynamic video production, providing smooth operability and versatility. Its power zoom mechanism allows for precise zoom control across 11 speed settings, while the internal zoom design ensures stability, especially when using a gimbal.
Ideal for documentaries, weddings, and solo shoots, the lens offers a wide focal range with a minimum focus distance of 0.34m at the wide end.
Designed for professional setups, the lens supports matte boxes, follow focus systems, and remote zoom control via Nikon’s NX Tether, SnapBridge, and NX Field. It also features Nikon’s Meso Amorphous Coat to reduce flare and ghosting, a stepping motor (STM) for silent autofocus, and a fluorine coating for dust and water resistance.

Nikon India announces the fourth edition of its prestigious Wedding Film Awards (WFA). This annual competition aims to recognize and celebrate the artistry of wedding videographers and cinematographers across India, providing a platform for both seasoned professionals and emerging talents to showcase their skills.
This year’s theme, “Magical Memories,” encourages participants to capture the special moments that make weddings unique. The contest offers a chance to win prizes valued at over ₹6 lakhs, including the Nikon Z6III. The WFA not only highlights creative talent but also gives videographers an opportunity to gain widespread recognition and become part of a growing community dedicated to wedding cinematography.
A Platform for Growth and Creativity
Running over three months, from October 2024 to January 8, 2025, the Wedding Film Awards provide a valuable opportunity for videographers to refine their craft and gain visibility in a competitive industry. The contest serves as a gateway for young creators to hone their skills while promoting Nikon as the go-to brand for wedding videography tools.

Elite Jury and Submission Details
Participants will have their entries evaluated by an expert panel of Nikon Creators, including some of India’s leading wedding cinematographers and photographers. The jury features well-known names such as Raj Rj (Founder of The Yellow Draft), Kirandeep (renowned wedding photographer), Snehal Patel (Founder of Spectrum Pixels), and Sazid Ansari (Founder of The Royal Diaries).
To participate, videographers are required to submit a 60-second video shot using Nikon cameras and lenses, along with a 100-word caption describing how their video uniquely captures the essence of the wedding. Entries can be submitted via the Nikon India website or through Instagram by tagging @NikonIndiaOfficial and using hashtags #WFAMagicalMemories and #WFAS4.
Exciting Prizes Await
The top winner of the Wedding Film Awards will receive Nikon’s cutting-edge Z6III camera, along with a Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.4 lens. Runners-up will also receive Nikon’s best-selling models, including the Nikon Zf and Z50 cameras.
