Sony Launches A7 V in India

Sony India has introduced the A 7V, the fifth-generation model in the Alpha 7 full-frame mirrorless series. It features a newly developed partially stacked 33.0MP Exmor RS CMOS sensor and the latest BIONZ XR2 image processing engine with an integrated AI unit. The camera delivers enhanced autofocus performance, including faster and more accurate Real-time Recognition AF and Real-time Tracking. With 759 phase-detection points covering up to 94% of the frame and low-light operation down to EV -4.0, the A7 V offers reliable subject detection in challenging conditions. High-resolution RAW processing is now supported through Imaging Edge Desktop.

The A7 V achieves blackout-free continuous shooting up to 30 fps with 60 AF/AE calculations per second and includes a Pre-Capture function that records up to one second before the shutter is pressed. It offers up to 16 stops of dynamic range and improved Auto White Balance using AI-driven scene and light source analysis.

For video creators, the camera supports 7K oversampled 4K 60p recording in full-frame mode and 4K 120p in APS-C/Super 35mm mode, with full pixel readout and no pixel binning. Dynamic Active Mode stabilization and AI-based Auto Framing further enhance handheld and content-focused shooting. Updated noise reduction and improved internal microphones support cleaner audio.

Sony also launched the FE 28-70mm F3.5-5.6 OSS II, a compact lens optimized for high-speed continuous shooting and coordinated stabilization.

Both products support Sony’s sustainability goals, with manufacturing powered by renewable energy and eco-friendly packaging. The A7 V body will be available from 10 December 2025, with the M-kit following in February 2026.

DJI, a leader in drone and camera technology, has unveiled its latest action camera, the Osmo Action 5 Pro, boasting several industry-first features that elevate it to professional standards. The new camera combines rugged durability with exceptional image quality, pushing the boundaries of action photography.

The Osmo Action 5 Pro’s standout feature is its groundbreaking (up to) 13.5-stop dynamic range, which enhances both high dynamic range and low-light performance. This range is powered by a next-gen 1/1.3” sensor with a 2.4 μm pixel size, making it the first action camera to offer professional-level specs. With the ability to capture 10-bit D-Log M and support hybrid log-gamma (HLG) displays, it excels in both high-brightness and low-light conditions. Additionally, its SuperNight mode uses AI noise reduction to deliver superior clarity in extremely dark environments.

Battery life is another area where the Osmo Action 5 Pro excels, with a 4-hour continuous recording capability—a 50% improvement from its predecessor. This is made possible by a more efficient 4nm chip and a larger 1950mAh battery. Even in extreme temperatures as low as -20°C, the camera can last for up to 3.6 hours. Fast charging is another feature, offering two hours of shooting from just 15 minutes of charging.

The Osmo Action 5 Pro is also the first action camera to offer built-in subject centering and tracking without the need for a gimbal. Using a 4nm chip and machine learning, the camera automatically adjusts framing to keep subjects centered, enhancing video quality for dynamic action scenes.

For underwater enthusiasts, the camera is waterproof to a depth of 20 meters without an additional case. It includes features like automatic underwater recording and a built-in pressure gauge to track depth and time, ensuring both creative flexibility and user safety.

The camera is equipped with dual OLED high-brightness touchscreens, providing clear visibility even in bright daylight, and offers improved audio quality via the DJI OsmoAudio™ ecosystem, which connects directly to the DJI Mic 2 Transmitter for studio-quality sound.

Other notable features include 47GB of built-in storage, Wi-Fi livestreaming, timecode support for multi-camera synchronization, and live photo capabilities. The DJI Mimo app allows creators to adjust settings, preview footage, and edit videos directly on their smartphones.

The Osmo Action 5 Pro is available now at DJI’s online store and authorized retailers. The Standard Combo is priced at $35,250, while the Adventure Combo, which includes additional accessories, retails for ₹44,250.

Nikon Unveils Z6 III with World’s First Partially Stacked CMOS Sensor at ₹2,47,990

Nikon has recently launched the Z6 III in India, featuring a 24.5-megapixel partially stacked CMOS sensor. This release marks a significant advancement in camera technology, distinguishing it from its predecessors and higher-end models. The camera is priced at ₹2,47,990 for the body only.

The Z6 III’s sensor architecture is unique, with components arranged as bars at the top and bottom of the pixel area, rather than across the entire sensor. This partially stacked design enhances processing speeds up to 3.5 times faster than the Z6 II’s traditional BSI CMOS sensor, leading to notable improvements in continuous shooting, autofocus, video frame rates, and rolling shutter effects.

In terms of viewfinder, the Z6 III features an exceptionally bright electronic viewfinder (EVF) capable of up to 4,000 nits, enhancing visibility in various lighting conditions. Video capabilities are also a highlight, with the camera supporting 6K RAW recording at up to 60fps and 4K RAW at up to 120fps. Nikon reports a 20% increase in autofocus speed compared to the Z6 II, along with extended sensitivity down to -10EV for better low-light performance. The ISO range reaches up to 51,200 for videos and 64,000 for photos, accommodating detailed imaging in dim conditions.

The Z6 III includes an advanced in-camera Vibration Reduction (VR) system, achieving an 8.0-stop stabilization. This system also features focus point VR, reducing blurring around the edges and aiding in subject framing. The camera is built with robust materials, combining Sereebo P series carbon fibre and magnesium alloy, and is designed to withstand challenging environments. It offers dust and moisture sealing and can operate at temperatures as low as -10 degrees Celsius.

Set to be available by the end of June 2024, the Nikon Z6 III will be sold across Nikon outlets in India. This camera, with its innovative sensor design and advanced features, aims to attract both professional photographers and enthusiasts seeking high performance.
